The Journey of a Cult can be defined by specific steps.

1. The Grand Vision

An inspiring figure or coaches present a new and transcendent idea that promises a cure for alienated and vulnerable people.

And so it goes. Preparations are underway to storm the compound in Australia. Tensions are rising. Signs of trouble appear from within. An isolated player, naked, nervous, the words HIGH RELEASE POINT smeared across his chest in chicken blood, has come staggering from the field and is being led away in secrecy to a different team at Derbyshire.

Do you recall the start, when everything was fresh? The initial phase, of uninhibited aggression.

2. The Honeymoon Phase

Cult leaders promise a fresh beginning, hope for a future, support, redemption together united in belief in the method.

What was this thing initially? Just men on a balcony enjoying success. Tattoos. Forearms. Jawlines. Elite male wellness energy. Admittedly, England’s players insist they don’t use the label, ironically since it’s not recognized, what did we see?

Yet it’s clear the concept. It’s the player executing a stroke so outrageous it has to be pixelated.
